Real Natural Rudraksha Bodhi Beads. Rudraksha Bodhi Beads are the seeds of the fruit of the utrasam tree and Hindus believe it is sacred to Shiva. The name ‘rudraksha’ means ‘eye of Rudra’, an ancient name for Shiva. The seeds are made into beads and worn as rosaries, necklaces and bracelets by Shaivite devotees and priests.
The botanical name of the tree is Elaeocarpus ganitrus. The tree’s common Names include Rudraksha, Rudraksha Tree, Utrasum Bead Tree.
Prized for its seeds, Elaeocarpus ganitrus is a large evergreen tree adorned with a with a spreading handsome crown of shiny, green, oblong leaves. The trunk is rough textured, cylindrical and grayish-white. Rudraksha Bodhi Beads are the seeds of this tree.
