Description
This useful thermometer can measure the temperature of your melted candle wax during candle-making. it can also measure the temperature of foodstuffs you’re cooking, such as candy.
At Mill Cottage (the home of Craftsteading) we aim to use tools and equipment that don’t rely on electricity or batteries. Batteries cause pollution when they are manufactured, due to CO2 emissions. When used batteries are tossed into the trash, they end up in landfills where they decay and leak. As batteries corrode, their chemicals soak into soil and contaminate groundwater and surface water. Electricity generation often causes degradation of the environment, too. Furthermore, during power blackouts, electrical appliances become useless.
So instead of using digital thermometers we use bimetal thermometers. Bimetal thermometers measure by thermal expansion. A bimetal thermometer uses a bi metal spring as temperature sensing element. This technology uses a coil spring made of two different types of metals, such as copper, steel, or brass, that are welded or fastened together.
